Weather, crowds, prices, whale season, turtle nesting, and the ideal window for boat charters and snorkeling — all in one honest guide.
Puerto Rico has a tropical climate year-round, averaging 77–88°F. The best overall time to visit is December through April (dry season), when rain is minimal and trade winds keep temperatures comfortable. However, for boat charters and snorkeling, May through August offers the calmest seas and best underwater visibility. Humpback whales pass through Puerto Rican waters January–March. Sea turtle nesting season is May–October. Hurricane season runs June–November (peak: August–October). Boating Puerto Rico operates year-round from Marina Puerto del Rey, Fajardo with private charters to Culebra, Vieques, and the USVI. Contact (787) 717-3779 to book.
